One races on Saturday, August 22nd / Pricegiving

On Saturday there was a nice front approaching. This made possible one race with winds from west. That there are shift to south with this wind from west was not unexpected.
The winner of this shifty race was Christian Spießberger, followed by Vhristian Binder and Michael Farthofer.
Missing some shifts, the leader after six races, the hungarian team with Sandor Varjas on the tiller, crossed the finish line at 11th and lost the lead. Third place overall did not make himvery happy...
Christian Binder / Christian Feichtinger / Klaus Kratochwill won the Europa Cup 2020, the Zipfer and the Titel of an Austrian Champion. Florian Felzmann / Stephan Beurle / Michael Felzmann got second in the Zipfer Trophy and won the silver medals of the Austrian Championship. Bronce went to Michael Farthofer / Rudolf Matheis / Lisa Farthofer who got fourth in the overall ranking.

Again three races on Friday, August 21st

After a bit of waiting the famous Rosenwind showed up and made possible another day of beautiful racing.
Sandor Varjas, the leader after three races, won the fourth heat.
The man of the day was Christian Spießberger, who won race five and was at the lead of race six till the last mark, where he lost his place to Christian Binder.
After six races Sandor Varjas is in the lead three points ahead of Christian Binder and Florian Felzmann who are equal in points, still fighting for the Austrian Nationals. The Warningsignal to race seven is planned on Saturday 11:00 am

Three races on Thursday, August 20th

After the traditional opening of the Zipfer Trophy by Ludwig Beurle in the area of the "Zipfer Bar" some glases of dinks (guess what it was) where needed by the competitors during waiting of Wind.
This wind came very slow and at about 01:30 pm the fleet was called to go out. After some more time of waiting on the water with sunshine the wind - it was the famous Rosenwind - increased up to about six knots and race One was started. With the two Hungarian boats on course side the starter showed flag "X" and made the hungarians to go back. First boat in the finish was the defender of the Zipfer Trophy Florian Felzmann with his crew.
Race two had about seven to eight knots at the start. The line honoreds wnt to Michael Farthofer and Crew.
Race three had up to ten knots of wind. After a general recall the field had a nice start with "U". First on the finish line was Andreas Blaschke.
Overall after three races the hungarian Sandor Varjas is ahead of Christian Binder and Florian Felmann. On the places four and five we find Michael Farthofer and Karl Haist.
With the "Krauthäuplmusi" we had an Austrian Day in the Restaurant of UYCAs.
The Warningsignal to race four is planned on Friday 11:00 am

Corona-19 let us sail

As we have the permission from the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Vöcklabruck, we are allowed to sail the Europa Cup within the Zipfertrophy as announced.
We are very happy about this in Union-Yacht-Club Attersee because it is not always shure in these days.
To give our guests and usselve a maximum of covid-19 prevention we have to keep distance on shore and we have to use masks in rooms (eg. Race Office, toilets, wardropes and when going into the restaurant). But, we will have a nice sailing!
Ludwig is on the way to finalize the organisation. At the moment he is lighing candles for the wind!

Europa Cup instead of European Championship

Today ISA announced:
Dear Soling Sailors
An uncertain future, despite many countries being more relaxed in their activities, the current situation picture world wide only forced the ISA to focus on each sailors' safety and the fairness of all major events (open ones) that should be able to be attended by all those interested and not only by those who can attend, therefore with sadness the ISA cancels Worlds and Continentals also dropping the ISA ranking for the year of 2020.
Despite this decision, we encourage each event originally scheduled to be held by their hosts if possible, and that sailors also within their limitations to attend and have fun and enjoy their Solings like the case of the Zipfer Trophy that for the year of 2020 will be the Europa Cup and not the European fleet racing championship but still the largest event of the year.
We hope for the future that each country improves their situation making Soling sailing a great option to relax and face reality with a smile and joy.
Stay safe, and if possible sail with enthusiasm
Best winds.

This is the final decition to have no European Championship this year, and so we are sailing an Europa Cup, as well as the Austrian and Hungarian Natonals, during the 15th Zipfer Trophy.
As we do not have to pay fees to ISA the entry fee decreased...

Sailing in Austria is on the right way to normal

After the total corona lockdown of the past few weeks, there are positive news for sailing:
Sailing has been allowed from May 1st on. There are only one-handed sailors and family teams that are allowed on the water, but the beginning has been made.
Despite all "events" in Austria being banned until the end of June, trainings have been allowed since May 1st too with a maximum of ten people (incl. trainer) and always keeping a good distance!
Since yesterday, May 19th, also small regattas are allowed. Here, too, the limit of ten participants applies and the distance is maintained.
We are convinced that it will be possible to hold the European Championship in the Union-Yacht-Club Attersee in August. Restaurants are still open for crews of four per table. Hotels will open end of June. We are looking forward to this event and are busy with preparations!
We ask all participants to support us and to submit their online entry now. If, for whatever reason, you are still unable to participate and cancel by the registration deadline (August 7th), there is of course no registration fee to be paid ...

UYCAs was honoured to host the Soling European Championship 2020

In late spring 2020 the Union-Yacht-Club Attersee was honoured to host the Soling European Championship 2020 because of the cancellation of that championship in Germany du to the corona crises. In the following two weeks we built up the organising team with Ludwig Beurle as the chairman. The Race Committee will be chaired by the IRO Gert Schmidleitner, who knows the Solingclass for many years. He was the race officer for the Europeans 2001 and 2011, as well as for the Master Worlds 2002, 2006 and 2014.
For the International Jury we will have a look in the next months.
